Such a pretty wedding venue! I shot there for the first time last year as was so impressed by the beauty of the grounds and how attentive the staff was. I am looking forward to photographing more weddings there this year!
I came here for the Midsommer festival and it was nice. The admission is normally $15 (which is too high). I paid $5 because of the festival and it was worth that. It’s a small museum with limited collections and you can see the whole thing in less than an hour. Also, like many places that deal with the colonization of North America — the conversation around indigenous people is one sided and needs to be updated. It’s worth popping in if you get discounted admission and happen to be in the area.
This museum is just a short walk away from the Sports Complex and is housed in FDR Park, an expansive city park outfitted with a lake and all. The building is beautiful inside and out. The museum is divided into several themed rooms that each showcase an achievement of Swedish Americans. I especially liked the Golden Map room and the New Sweden gallery.
