The best thing about St Louis is all of the free things to do! I was able to visit the museum during their Chinese New Year celebration as well as the 20th Anniversary of Art in Bloom! It was simply beautiful! I arrived early on Friday afternoon and still had a hard time finding parking. I did appreciate the extra added parking and free shuttle service they offered for the Art in Bloom event! Went to see the Anselm Kiefer exhibit and it was awe inspiring. The museum is beautiful and flows easily. But the best, by far, were the staff, who were helpful, knowledgeable, and fun. I loved the fact that because it is a free museum it was full of every type of human from the very tiny to the very aged and in every color of the skin rainbow. Also, and very important for me, the coffee in the cafe was delicious! We're already planning our next trip back there.
The Saint Louis Art Museum is a beautiful place to visit, especially if you enjoy history and cultural collections. While not all of the paintings stood out to me, the historical sections were truly impressive and very well presented. The building itself is elegant, and the galleries feel calm and easy to explore without feeling rushed.
