I think this should be called the Encinitas Botanic Garden because it is quite the haul from San Diego but worth the drive nonetheless. It's a well maintained garden with species from all over and plenty of seating and areas to rest and take in nature. Check out their calendar for cool events!

Beautiful place with an impressive variety of plants, plus attractions that make it enjoyable for kids as well. We spent about two hours there and still didn’t manage to see everything. Time really flew by without us even noticing. One small suggestion: the map uses numbers to identify areas and points of interest. It would be helpful if the same numbers were also clearly visible within the garden itself, to make it easier to recognize and locate specific spots.
